Security Levels in 1Password and 1Password touch
1Password items have a security rating that can be either low or high. This allows you to control whether you can view an item’s details after entering just the Access Code to unlock 1Password, or if you will need to also enter the Master Password for enhanced security.
Low Security
Low Security items are viewable after you unlock 1Password. When you enter your four-digit Access Code and browse your items, you can tap a Low Security item and view all of its details without having to enter your Master Password. This is convenient, but not very secure. We recommend using Low Security ratings for non-critical items like grocery lists in Secure Notes or non-sensitive websites.
High Security
High Security items provide the best protection for your sensitive Logins, Credit Cards, Software Licenses, and anything else you want to guard closely. They require your Master Password to be entered before they display any details. After entering your Access Code to unlock 1Password, you can browse to an item and tap it, but you will need to enter your Master Password in order to view the information it contains.
This way, even if a curious coworker or a thief get their hands on your iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad and figure out your Access Code, they will not be able to view any High Security items without your Master Password.
Setting the Security Level
When editing any item in 1Password touch, an slider near the bottom allows you to toggle its Security Level.
Items created with 1Password on your computer
If you use 1Password on your Mac or Windows PC and 1Password touch for an iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad, you can sync your items so you always have them on both devices.
Items you create in 1Password on your computer default to having a High Security level. You can change an item’s Security Level in any version of 1Password and it will synchronize to the other devices that you sync with.
